Brain chemistry has finally settled enough so I can write a coherent post about episode thee
It was good! It鈥檚 really held up to the quality of the series so far, all of the special effects were top quality and per usual and the story was very coherent. WE GOT A MASSIVE FREAKING LORE DROP Gento has a wife and kids!!! Or had 馃槒 (they are dead) I鈥檓 starting to really wonder about gentos backstory mainly because of his experince before the series started that seems to be happening again and again, I think to some sort of minor degree Gento and ultraman have had some sort of interaction before, definitely didn鈥檛 transform though due to his shock of it the first time and no sightings expect from space. Emi aobe (respectfully) I dont know where to find the original poster but someone had a theory that Emi is going to betray everyone or atleast is their to monitor them and I definitely get that feeling the more the series has progressed and subscribe to it. I forgive her though so it鈥檚 okay. The earth garon was so dope! Anri鈥檚 interactions with Gento have been really nice and I appreciate her being treated by him like she鈥檚 valued because she seems like she has low self esteem which is stupid because she is dope. Me personally the suit actor felt a bit to animated so it didn鈥檛 really feel like a robot at some points but that was fine, my main gripe with the fight scenes has been the really low camera angles. Through the whole show so far I don鈥檛 think we have gotten an above shot for almost anything and during the fight scenes camera angles feel very constant which makes me feel like I cant move my head or see it properly, especially with the camera shake too. I haven鈥檛 seen ultraman next don鈥檛 really know anything about higher level ultra beings so I wonder about what being blazar is praying or giving tribute too by murdering.
Episode is a solid 8/10 and sorry for the I conhersntness because my brain chemistry is off the rocker again.
Ultraman blazar is now my favorite ultraman. Like in reality it鈥檚 hayata but I can鈥檛 say that, that鈥檚 bland! The first one is your favorite? Really? I think not
Episode three
I can鈥檛 write I can鈥檛 think straight
Emi Aobe (respectfully)

Ultraman Arc September Scans
Still nothing too much to see here, but they kinda already pushed Galaxy Armor forward for last month's scans for the Tamashii Nations event so that's expected
Galaxy Armor attacks include:
1. Arc Feather (passive ability)
So there are 4 of sucb Arc "feathers" that is always constantly levitating around Galaxy Armor via its psychic powers, which can be used for attack or defense
2. Arc Feather Circle
The circles combine for form a hyperspace wormhole for Arc to travel through
(I wonder if this allows Arc to travel to different universes as well?
3. Galaxer Slicer
Literally just using it to slash enemies, nothing special
4. Galaxer Finalize
A beam attack from the Arc Galaxer when all Arc Cubes are used at the same time
-
Oct Episodes:
Ep 13: Recap ep
Ep 14: Zadime Part 1
Ep 15: Zadime, Galaxy Armor Part 2
Ep 16: Blazar Crossover Part 1
Kinda curious why they're not showing any Blazar crossover content tho
But Zadime's ability to summon portals might be how Blazar and co arrives in Arc's universe at the end of ep 15
Additionally, we still aren't sure just how many episodes we are gonna have for the Blazar crossover.
All we know is that the 2nd catalog leaks shows that ep 17 is Hellnarak, and ep 18 is King of Mons
And the 2nd half OP implied that ep 19 is Trigelos

Ultraman Blazar's Salutations From Episodes 1-5 (ft. Bazanga, Leviera, and a sleeping Dorgo)
Episode 1 as well as the rest of the series can be found on youtube for free with eng subtitles and an eng audio track if that interests you
[Video description: Ultraman Blazar, a colossal grey humanoid alien with red and blue markings on his body, and blue markings on his face, performs his signature salutation in several different places and times. This salutation consists of raising his arms up to the sky in a circular motion, and bringing his knee up before stepping into a lunge and scooping his arms down and upward.
From episode 1, in a city at night, the camera watches from below, as Blazar performs his salutation and his markings flash red and blue. The shot cuts to a wider one, showing off the buildings and Blazar's opponent, Bazanga, a prawn-like Kaiju. After his salute, Blazar moves his hands into a guarded, fighting stance.
From Episode 2: Blazar stands against the bright blue day sky in a small fishing village, with much shorter buildings. He faces the camera directly as he does his salutation, and the camera zooms in on him as he does it and his markings flash red and blue once more.
From Episode 3: Blazar is framed in a head and shoulder shot and smothered in smoke as his colour time, a big round spot on his chest that is normally blue, flashes red. Once more he faces the camera as he does his salutation, before flying off, kicking up dirt in his takeoff.
From episode 4: The camera pans over a cityscape, with a highway at the front of the scene. Once more it is night time and Blazar faces off against a monster among many many buildings. The monster is Leviera, a sea-angel themed kaiju whose face is open to reveal flashing yellow lights as Blazar does his salutation from the side. Leviera is aggressively ready to go.
From episode 5: Blazar stands behind the sleeping kaiju, Dorgo, who looks mostly like a hill of dirt in this shot. He performs his salutation, and immediately begins to push the sleeping Kaiju back to its proper resting place. The shot switches to one of Blazar from behind, as he continues to push Dorgo back into place, among the green hills and mountains of the Japanese countryside. With a thump, Dorgo returns to his resting spot, and Blazar turns to face the camera as he jumps up into the air to fly away.
End video description.]
#captain eyebrows#fuck it. into the tag#Ultraman Blazar#this is rough but im gonna try to make it better#i want to have the series' worth by the time its over#ep 3 is his first post fight salutation. the special if it has one doesnt count bc its a recap. ep 6 doesnt have one (presumably bc its#Earth Garon but i still feel cheated out of one) ep 7 doesnt have one which makes sense bc 2 parter but still. i want these.#ep 8 is where the next part will begin if i have one of these for the next section. i might just wait until the series ends#depends on how i feel/when i remember ya know#okay now its time to whine#Blazar! Do more salutations!#that one article i reblogged says this act might be in reference to praying to a higher power for a good hunt#but ive been comparing it mentally to like. bowing before a fight with an opponent you know. a sign of respect a sign of a fight.#hell the fact that i call it a salutation is because it reminds of the yoga move sun salutation which isnt a fighting thing but is a#salutation. and blazars thing is about communication/trying to communicate#ah well. as usual hope i get more info on blazar asap#i love him so much <3

Never seen ultraman
What should I watch first to see if I like it or not?
Ultraman is a tokusatsu series with a very large variety of tones and styles. Each season is distinctly different from the last, especially in the New Generation era. Some seasons are very serious and gritty, some are slice-of-life, and some are light plot/heavy action. It's up to you on what you'd prefer!
I want to preface with the three eras (and sub eras) of Ultraman, just so you're aware of these terms when they come up:
Showa (1966 - 1987)
Heisei (1996 - 2012)
-> Heisei Trilogy/Part 1 (1996-1999)
-> Heisei Part 2/Phase 2 (2000 - 2012)
New Generation (2013 - Present)
-> Reiwa (2019 - Present)
That being said, I give you 5 equally valid options to begin:
Option 1:
Ultraman (1966)
Start with where it all began!*
Ultraman (1966) is Japan's take on the Twilight Zone but with a superhero-esqe twist. If you enjoy older sci-fi like the early seasons of Doctor Who or the first Star Trek, you'll greatly appreciate the practical effects, deep but episodic plots, and the unique kaiju/seijin.
From there, watch in order of release and enjoy just how much the show evolves. All the highs and lows.
*(Side note - technically Ultra Q (1966) is the first show but does not feature Ultraman whatsoever. This show serves as a prequel to the idea of kaiju and seijin in the modern world. If you're a completionist, you can start here and be amazed at how there are *still* monsters and plots making reappearances from this show)
Option 2:
Ultraman Tiga (1996)
Ultraman Tiga is the beginning of the Heisei Era and is widely regarded as one of the best series in the entire franchise.
I have lots of love to give to Tiga specifically, and this post of mine explains why that is:
Option 3:
Ultraman Mebius (2006)
Ultraman Mebius is the 40th anniversary of the Ultra series and is a beautiful continuation and love-letter of the Showa Era timeline. It features returning cast members, monsters, and plotlines from Ultraman, Ultraseven, Jack, Ace, Taro, Leo, and 80 (which all take place on the same Earth).
This show is a perfect introductory piece to the series because it exposes you to such a large amount of lore from the past while recontextualizing it with modern effects, richer storytelling, and a more serious tone. Mebius has so much heart, happiness, and hopefulness. It's a very positive and "heroic" type show.
Option 4:
Ultraman Orb (2016)
Ultraman Orb is, even while nestled in the near-middle of the New Gen Era, a fantastic starting piece and my typical recommendation for starters. It's quite fun and light-hearted but has an intense emotional core surrounding lost love and a broken friendship. The action and special effects are top-notch, and the main villain is an ICONIC character who pops up many times in later shows.
This show introduces fusions, which become a frequent New Gen trend (Orb does it the best of all). Great choice if you're looking to get dropped somewhere not too confusing or plot-intensive yet still action-y and engaging.
Option 5:
Ultraman Blazar (2023)
Ultraman Blazar is the newest season of Ultraman and started airing back in July. As of writing this, we are currently at Episode 8.
Blazar is unique and inventive so far in both its plot and aesthetic. It has a semi-serious sci-fi/military feel mixed with amazing new kaiju and.... a really strange Ultra lol. Blazar is unlike most thus far. He's primitive and beastly, kinda like a caveman.
It may not be the most completely accurate representation of the series as a whole, but nothing beats the excitement of watching the newest season as it airs!! The Tsuburaya official YouTube channel simulcasts each new episode as it airs in Japan (with japanese or english audio and subs).
~
I wish you luck on your multiverse-spanning Ultraman adventures!
Feel free to ask more questions if you have any 馃挍馃挍馃挍

Finally watching episode 3 of Ultraman Blazar and I'm glad to see that Gento is beginning to develop a relationship with Blazar not unlike that which a teenage girl might develop with a fractious, untameable horse.

Any tokusatsu that kinda transcends the genre? Like the tokusatsu equivalent of Akira or Evangelion - something true to form but "elevated" or distinctive enough that it can still be appreciated by outsiders? I want to dive in but I also want to convince a friend to watch some with me. A starter tokusatsu that is unmistakeably good
hello! first of all thanks for the ask and secondly i dont think i quite have the expertise on the subject i would like to yet, so dont take me as an authority. also! i really think most tokusatsu will be enjoyable to the average person as long as they understand what theyre getting into and theyre willing to engage with the given series and be receptive. anyways.
godzilla 1954: this one doesnt exactly transcend tokusatsu since it basically created the genre but its earned its reputation. dark, harrowing, emotional, and tragic, it also still has some of the best looking visuals of any kaiju media to date. I think its probably the single best godzilla movie
godzilla vs hedorah: this one has it all: with psychedelic musical numbers, animated interstitial scenes, and a stark environmental message, godzilla vs hedorah is a memorable standout from the showa era. it also has an uncanny bleakness and desolation you wouldnt expect from an era of godzilla known for being more kid friendly
basically any episode of the original ultraman or ultraseven directed by akio jissoji: jissoji had a very distinctive, almost avant-garde directorial style in the early ultra series and his are some of the most memorable. also i wouldnt call it transcendental but return of ultraman has some excellent episodes as well
heisei gamera trilogy, particularly 2 and 3: the heisei gamera trilogy is one of my favorites of the genre, the second one has incredible effects and the trilogy as s whole isnt afraid to do weird sicko shit that godzilla is afraid of. also frequent hideaki anno collaborator shinji higuchi directed the special effects
kamen rider kuuga: kuuga was the first of the heisei era kamen rider tv shows and as of right now my favorite. it gives a lot of the different usual aspects of kamen rider a sort of weight that you dont usually get from the series and it has an excellent ending. its also like. 1/3 police procedural 1/3 medical drama and 1/3 kamen rider show. it rocks. however you may want to do some research on how you watch it since the official shout factory subtitles on tubi and shout.tv make make some changes to the show
shin godzilla, shin ultraman, and shin kamen rider: its funny that you mention evangelion since anno and higuchi are actually enormous tokusatsu fans evangelion is chock full of references to ultraman specifically. i really think the shin series is and excellent introduction to their respective series. ultraman and kamen rider in particular embrace the conventions and themes of the original shows in a way that demonstrates a deep understanding of the source material on the parts of anno and higuchi. shin godzilla has already been talked about to deat, shin ultraman is like a perfect ultraman movie, and while its not without its faults shin kamen rider made me cry 馃憤. you may want to watch a few episodes of their respective series before you watch the movies bc they really do replicate the vibes perfectly
also of note but not exactly the most elevated , kamen rider agito, w, ooo, amazons, zo, j, and black are all good shows ive seen. i like them. zo and j in particular are worth checking out because theyre very short movies. also ultraman blazar is very good and its on youtube with official subtitles AND a dub. and while i havent gotten around to watching it yet, ive heard very good things about keita amemiyas graou series
youtube
no matter what you decide to watch or how much you enjoy it, its crucial to remember that scenes like this are why tokusatsu is good

What (toku) shows have you watched so far? Traditional toku shows: - Ultraman Blazar (almost done) - Four eps of Ultraman Geed (terrible) - One ep of Arc (didn't grab me) - One ep of Tiga (also didn't grab me) - The OG Ultraman (19 out of 36? episodes, it was part of a stream and we went the "greatest highlights" route, plus one night I was tired and dipped early)
Nontraditional toku shows (toku franchise shows that don't use the medium) - Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - Godzilla: Singular Point - Gamera: Rebirth Traditional toku movies: - Godzilla vs Mothra (the first one) - Godzilla vs Megalon - Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (the first one) - First half of Godzilla vs Biollante - Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (the second one) - The Heisei Gamera trilogy plus the first half of The Brave - First half of Ultraman: The Next - Godzilla against Mechagodzilla (the third one) - Godzilla: Final Wars
Nontraditional toku movies (toku franchise movies that don't use the medium) - Pacific Rim - The MonsterVerse - That sucky Power Rangers movie from 2017 - Shin Ultraman - Godzilla Minus One - Ultraman Rising I think that's all of 'em right now.

So, before the year ends, also realizing that Ultraman Blazar is down to the last 3 episodes (how time flies, but damn it), I just thought: What if the SKaRD quintet will do a body profile photo shoot thanks to Konomi Naito?
It may be sounded a little crazy to my thoughts, but if this happens, this should happen en route to the last episode that will be out in the middle of this month.
But to realize it, I've never tweeted a lot of Ultraman content ever since the start of New Generation, taking me back to the time I was watching Ginga S on TV to the transition of watching it on YT for the current series.
The last 3 episodes of Ultraman Blazar will definitely be a must-watch. You can still catch up while there's time because the endgame begins this Saturday.
Not yet ready (I think I'm not alone) to say goodbye to my favorite cast in an Ultraman series! 馃槩

You had me hooked at Godzilla
Are there robots? Cus I remember reading robots somehwere
And these guys give me superhero vibes, do they have superpowers? Or are they like, power rangers but high tech
Fun fact! The original head of the company that makes Ultraman, Mr. Eiji Tsuburaya (may he rest in peace), was the special effects director for the original Godzilla, before he split off to create his own production company! (Yeah, Ultraman's been going a while... Off and on since 1966!) So there's a good reason Godzilla is an easy comparison to make, and it's not just because of all the kaiju!
There are robots sometimes! The big focus is on the titular Ultramen -- aliens made of light from a distant galaxy, (usually,) capable of being large or small, generally do-gooders and capable of fusing their life with a human host for mutual survival -- but there have been both robot antagonists and robot friends throughout the years. The current season, Blazar, is very new-viewer friendly and has a giant mecha-godzilla-esque mecha that our heroes pilot (starting from episode 3)! His name is Earth Garon and we all love him.
As for superhero vibes... Kinda! As I mentioned, Ultramen can fuse with humans for mutual survival - Ultras need intense solar radiation to survive more than a few minutes, which Earth's atmosphere unfortunately blocks, so fusing lets them hide in the human's body on Earth to survive long-term when waiting for kaiju to show up, and lets the human hide in the Ultra's body for combat! (Well, there's other situations too, because not all "Ultramen" are from the same place, and others find other solutions... but that's the most common way.) So the protagonist is usually very superhero-like, with a "secret identity" of sorts! (EDIT: ... And yes, Ultramen themselves typically have superpowers. The most basic is beam attacks, but there's been everything from healing powers to energy weapon summoning to CRAB MINIATURIZING BEAM to summoning black holes! They're a bit magical like that.)
But then there's usually a government Defense Team, or other human allies, who are trying to solve mysteries and save Earth themselves, with human technology! So that part's often more got Star Trek vibes than Power Rangers, I'd say, but they'll often have combining jet fighters or mecha and such, so a bit similar after all, lol. A big theme is humanity trying to find its own place in the universe and grow to protect themselves!
... Though, that's mostly in proper seasons. Zero's a bunch of movies, usually set out in space with very few humans (or human-looking characters) at all, so it's very much a larger-scale sci-fi superhero romp there. A bit more Star Wars than Star Trek, but still it's own thing and very fun!
... Ah, I talked too much again. Well, if you need any more rambling about my favorite series, I'll be around, lmao
#rambling#listen. ultraman's love for humanity is intense and real#they largely tend to view us like younger siblings#we can mess up and be annoying but#they want us to succeed so much#and if we get in over our heads they will rush to protect us#it's all so very good and cute ;w;#ARGH TRYING TO SUM UP SO MANY DIFFERENT SEASONS IS HARD#alright alright time for bed ace

Oh mighty Ultraman fan that I've been following, answer my question I bequeath onto thee:
Wtf is Ultraman and how does one get started
smiles at you greatly. ultraman is a tokusatsu series (live action transforming superhero show (think like power rangers)) about giant aliens who protect the earth from kaiju. there are alot of ultramen. you can literally start with any show u want the vast majority of them are standalone. new gen series do use legacy gimmicks ie directly mentioning and referencing past ultras BUT this isnt really a turnoff at all for me it just made me want to look them up. and get more interested anyway you can watch alot of them just on youtube cuz the ultraman official yt channel recently started uploading episodes there! recently as in like 3 years ago. theres an ongoing show rn ultraman blazar you probably know him from my past url. anyway. i recommend ultraman z (JAPANESE WITH SUBS or ENGLISH DUB)
also ultra wiki sorry its on fandom its good though and even endorsed by tsuburaya productions themselves

Ultraman Arc August Scans
I decided to upload the non-HQ scans that are already flying around cause I recalled that it can sometimes take 2 weeks for those to arrive for some reason
Anyways so ya, Galaxy Armor
Definitely looks awesome by itself, having the same color scheme as Saga not to mention
But when fitted onto Arc, the juxtaposition looks so jarring. Cause on one hand, the armor looks so cool, and on the other, Arc's design looks so basic. Unlike Exceed X BSA, whose base design is interesting enough to cover up the fact that there's no armor there, it really feels such a waste that Arc puts this armor on, the lower torso and leggings are just so glaringly empty
Also the Arc Galaxy is bascially just the Orb Slasher, even the poses are the same
(Oh god, how long has it been since we last received ACTUAL leaks of forms only)
But imo the Galaxer looks boring and way too small as majority of its size are just used to fit the 3 Arc Cubes and the blades are way too small
Even seeing the bulky Galaxy Armor Arc holding such a small weapon looks so ridiculous
But I highly doubt we will see Galaxy Armor next month. Cause they know nothing interesting is going on for Arc in the Sept episodes so they busted Galaxy Armor early as if yall look at the 3rd scan, we see other kaiju being featured. So it probably goes like this:
Ep 8: Kanegon
Ep 9: Pagos, Neronga and Noisler
Ep 10/11: Givas and Gubila (previously leaked)
Galaxy Armor itself will probably only show up in Oct against Trigelos (ep 15/16) along with the Blazar crossover episode, as well as the new kaiju Zadime and Hellnarak
Really hope Arc gets an actual upgrade to his base form to actually complement how cool Galaxy Armor looks or else it really feels such a waste for Arc to be the one to equip it
I'll upload the HQ versions once they drop

Ultraman Blazar: Initial Thoughts
So as of this post, the first eight episodes of Ultraman Blazar have aired, so I thought I'd give my initial thoughts on it like I did with Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger. Of course, this means another plot summary.
One night, a leader of a military platoon named Gento (Played by Tomoya Warabino) is nearly killed by a giant monster, but unlike earlier Ultraman shows, the titular Ultraman Blazar already resides in him. After awakening his Ultraman powers and defeating the monster, Gento is recruited by Chief Retsu Haruno (Played by Masaya Kato) to lead a new military organization, the Special Kaiju Reaction Detachment, or SKaRD. Gento's team consists of Vice-Captain Teruaki Nagura (Played by Yuki Ito), a disciplined analyst who serves as mission control, Emi Aobe (Played by Himena Tsukimiya), a master of disguise who serves as the team's intelligence officer, Yasunobu Bando (Played by Hayate Kajihara), a skilled mechanic who created the giant robot designed to fight Monsters, Earth Garon, and Anri Minami (Played by Konomi Naito), one of Earth Garon's pilots who struggles to adapt to the less strict environment SKaRD operates under.
THE STORY
The writing for this season was meant to deviate from the usual style associated with the past few Ultraman seasons. For one thing, the titular Ultraman Blazar is shown to be more aggressive than past Ultras, not only forcing Gento to transform in Episode 1, but shouting and growling during a fight, almost like an animal. He still gets the job done and fights monsters, but there's an underlying mystery as to who he really is, making him even more of an enigma than the Ultras who also had mysteries surrounding their past, like Ginga, X, or Decker.
As for the episodes, while they're the usual monster of the week stories, but they're still enjoyable in their own ways. Episode 1 is dark and foreboding, Episodes 2 and 3 are more lighthearted and set up SKaRD as a team, Episode 4 has Emi go undercover at a chemical company almost like in a cop show, Episode 5 is back to the lighthearted antics involving a monster who accidentally had a pair of cannons installed on its back, Episode 6 is a serious story involving an alien who hijacks Earth Garon, and Episode 7 is the first of a two-parter exploring humanity's impact on the planet. There's genuinely a lot of variety with the writing here.
THE CHARACTERS
SKaRD is a pretty well-rounded cast, all things considered.
Gento being the team's leader is a first in the franchise, and it leads to a lot of interesting plotlines. He's shown to be someone who cares for his team, and wants things to be less formal than most military operations, but at the same time, you can see how good of a leader he is. He's also shown to be married and has a kid too, which also adds a little more to make him relatable to the audience. As for Blazar himself, while we don't know much right now, there are still moments that highlight how different of a fighter he is from past Ultras, coming across as a hunter than a hero.
Emi is easily my favorite character in the show. While not the actual second-in-command, she works as a foil for Gento, and the two have great chemistry together. You can genuinely buy their friendship the most out of the entire cast. I also love how good at espionage she is, showing she's more of a spy than a straight up fighter.
Anri is also a really solid character. I like how she struggles the most to adjust to being part of a team as informal as SKaRD, and genuinely lets her weaknesses show more often than not, like her social awkwardness or her disgust towards bugs.
Yatsunobu is a nice take on one of the franchise's character archetypes, the mechanic. While socially awkward at times to the point of talking with a washing machine (which he even named Cururu), he's not the bombastic or quirky mad scientist in the way characters like Ide, Doigaki, or Yuka are. He's a humble man who just loves working with machines.
Teruaki and Retsu are... kind of just there, for the most part. So far, neither of them have really gotten a focus episode, and don't have a lot in terms of personality. Other than that, it's a pretty solid cast of characters.
We also have tons of original monsters in this show, with only a single returning alien so far. The monsters are all pretty cool too. They have a very Showa-esque charm to them with their behavior, like Gedos trying to eat a bunch of processed fish, or Dorgo being a peaceful monster who just wants to sleep. They have their own memorable quirks that make them more than just things for Blazar to punch.
Overall, while I don't have a lot to say, I'm really interested in seeing where Blazar goes in the future.

Ultraman Blazar seems to worship some kind of Aliengod. That scene at the end of Episode 3 was so weird and interesting at the same time. I mean he seems to act on pure instinct, feeling it's the right thing to protect the humans but maybe it's some kind of alien religion that told him to do all that
And those scenes are insane

Ultraman Blazar versus Taganular in episode #3, The Name is Earth Garon.
So SKaRD's kaiju-fighting mecha, Earth Garon (which looks like a Godzooky-fied version of Mechagodzilla), takes to the field for the first time, and fares about as well - or poorly, in this case - as I thought it would.
Ultraman Z already featured 3 kaiju-fighting mecha, so I don't know why Tsuburaya felt the need to repeat itself. Unless, of course, someone at Bandai said that they needed more robot toys.
Actually, given the prominence of the television ads for the Earth Garon figure since the very first episode, that's probably exactly what happened.
Still more team goofiness in this episode, making it clear that the more serious tone of the pilot episode was the exception and not the rule. Overall, though, I don't mind the lighter tone, as long as none of the characters go completely overboard like Tesshin Sakuma (Tadashi Mizuno) in Ultraman Trigger. That character did nothing but annoy me.
As for Taganular, the kaiju of the week, I'm still confused. After all the big build-up that it was going to explode and take out a huge chunk of real estate if not stopped, all the poor guy did was sneeze the energy harmlessly into the sky (for what reason we're never told). No harm, no foul. But Blazar goes ahead and kills Taganular anyway. What the heck kinda lesson is that teaching kids?
Blazar is starting to get on my nerves with his constant babbling. There have been Ultras in the past that have grunted a lot during battles, sometimes way too much, but Blazar takes the cake. And it doesn't help that no one can understand a word he says. Not a great thing for a series that has "communication" as its theme.
It was a nice touch to see Gento's wedding ring and the photo of his wife and son in his locker. I had read that he was married, but until now we had seen no evidence of that. There hasn't been a family man as an Ultra host since Ultraman: The Next, and I'm interested in seeing where the story goes with that.
